Summer Camp

This summer, something powerful happened in Miami—girls came together, built community, discovered new strengths, and had a whole lot of fun doing it. The Strong Girls Summer Camp, hosted by Girls Inc. of Greater Miami, offered more than just a break from school—it offered a launchpad for confidence, creativity, and bold possibilities.

For six weeks, elementary-aged girls immersed themselves in a dynamic mix of hands-on learning, creative expression, and community-building. Each day was thoughtfully designed to help girls grow stronger, smarter, and bolder—whether they were experimenting with STEM projects, building emotional intelligence, or collaborating on group challenges.

One of the standout components of this summer’s camp was our Fashion Upcycling curriculum, where girls learned how to transform outdated clothing and household items into stylish, wearable art. With guidance from guest instructors and artists, they explored the power of sustainability, self-expression, and design thinking. The program helped them see fashion not just as style, but as a creative outlet for leadership and innovation.

What makes Strong Girls Summer Camp unique is the intentional balance of structure and imagination. Girls learned essential life skills like conflict resolution, self-advocacy, teamwork, and goal setting, all while engaging in fun activities that sparked their curiosity. From arts and crafts to science experiments and themed weeks, every moment was an opportunity to try something new in a safe, supportive environment.

Field trips, guest speakers, and special events gave girls a chance to expand their worldviews, explore local culture, and envision bold futures. For many, it was their first time engaging with professionals in fields like engineering, fashion, or public service—and those experiences left lasting impressions.

But more than anything, Strong Girls Summer Camp was a place of belonging. A place where girls could be fully themselves, cheer each other on, and know that their voice matters. One parent described it best: “It’s the program that helps girls be themselves.”

Girls left camp with more than new friendships and fun memories—they left with a deeper belief in who they are and what they’re capable of.

As we reflect on a summer filled with growth and inspiration, we’re already looking forward to what’s next. Because when girls are given the tools, space, and support to shine, there’s no limit to what they can achieve.
