Why Giving to Girls Inc. Impacts Miami
Give Miami Day is more than a fundraiser — it’s a citywide movement investing in the people who shape our community’s future. Each year, thousands of Miami-Dade residents come together to strengthen organizations that move our city forward. Girls Inc. of Greater Miami is proud to be part of that movement, standing for the next generation of leaders who will define Miami’s future workforce.
These aren’t just numbers — they’re the future of Miami’s workforce in motion. Across Miami-Dade, women represent over half the population yet only 44 percent of full-time workers. According to the 2025 Status of Women in Miami-Dade County report by the FIU Jorge M. Pérez Metropolitan Center, the overall gender pay gap stands at 12.7 percent — women’s median earnings of $45,079 compared with men’s $51,703. In high-wage fields like finance, management, and law, pay gaps widen up to 46 percent, and women remain underrepresented in those sectors. Fewer than four in ten women hold a bachelor’s degree, and only a small share of county contracts go to women-owned firms.

Through programs like Power Hour, our career development and mentorship initiative, girls gain the networks, confidence, and experiences that open doors to higher-paying fields and leadership roles.
